A contract has been accepted for tho erection of a gaol at Rockhampton, for £5135,and the works, we understand, have already been commenced. The custom-house at Rockhampton is progressing favorably.

At Rockhampton a gaol and court-house, &c, are in course of erection. Tho former is estimated to cost £5135, and the latter £3075. According to the last advices, the custom-house was up to the first storey, and would likely be completed in the course of a few weeks. With regard to tho gaol we understand that the foundations have been laid, and that the gaoler's or " governor's" house is nearly completed.

The now Custom-house at Rockhampton has been finished and handed over by the contractor. The temporary post-office has been finished and occupied for some time past, and is a great convenience to the government and the public. The gaol at Rockhampton is rapidly approaching completion, and would have been handed over earlier but for the difficulty in obtaining labor and materials. A new watch-house and lock-up is about to be built in Rockhampton in connection with the court-house ; and tenders are about to be invited for additions to the pilot station,

The gaol, at Rockhampton, is now finished and ready for the reception of prisoners, a new lockup is also commenced near the Court House.

Mr. DAVIS to ask the Secretary for Lands and Works,-That, as the Gaol at Rockhampton is to be taken for railway purposes, has any sum been set aside from the railway or any other fund for erecting another, and if so, what amount?
